Another character in DEAR ELVIRA who befriended Matt Joplin was Grace Scott. She lives in the same apartment building as Matt Joplin and works in the copy room of The Star Journal. When the editor and owner of the newspaper told Matt to take  look at himself in the mirror, and then improve on his appearance, Grace took him to the men's store where her late husband shopped and helped him pick out a new wardrobe. One night as they were talking over dinner, he discovered he had escorted her younger sister to the senior prom. He was prom king, she prom queen.

I couldn't believe it. Dear Elvira will not be released until May17, and today I received a copy for the cover art for my next book Why Mary Beth Why. This book is not due to be released for a couple of months, but the cover art is fantastic. Perhaps Rebel Ink Press is trying to encourage me.

Back to Dear Elvira, my favorite character is a three year old girl with blonde curley hair. Her name is Rebecca Stubbs and she wears a leg brace that Matt Joplin refers to as her leg jewlery. She reminds Matt, you rally must believe.

Matt Joplin was a small town boy who moved to the city after graduating from high school in Amherst, Texas. He was the product of divorced parents because of an incident that left Matt heartbroken. Once moving to Lubbock, he was fortunate to land a job with the city newspaper. After a few years working part time with the newspaper, he landed a full time job as a reporter. He developed close friendships with a few of the employees, and was asked to join the bowling team. Here he meet an older gentleman and his granddaughter, whose family values made a lasting impression on him. Two of the other newsmen and Matt were sent to a near by city to cover an important event. There, his co-workers were introduced to Matt's father and step-father, both of whom were very wealthy and influential men. Matt decided he wanted to use his job as a reporter to make a difference in the lives of people less fortunate than he.
Then there was this certain girl..

Every now and then, it's a good thing to clean out the attic of your mind so new ideas can find a place to put themselves.

Sometimes the little things in life make the biggest difference--a little time, a little rest, a little loving care.
